Intro to Robotics Design & AR Coding for Junior

GRADES: K-2

LENGTH: 1 week

DESCRIPTION

Junior Robotics explorers (Grades K-2) will kickstart a world of discovery at the Intro to Robotics Engineering & AR Coding Camp! They will engage in a fun-filled week, building robots with blocks and motors, learning basic coding to control their robots, launching them remotely, and experiencing the robotics world through AR. It's a blend of hands-on building and technology exploration.

This camp is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC).

No prior computer or robotics knowledge is needed.

Fun outdoor and indoor activities and plays are part of the camp experience.

Students will dive into the exciting process of building and programming robots using a versatile, Lego-like system. This approachable system features programmable motor controls, allowing learners to grasp the basics of robot mechanics and motor control programming. Throughout the camp, students will be encouraged to experiment with various construction methods, creating a range of projects from robotic cars to mechanical cranes, each teaching a different aspect of basic robotics.

Campers will build a prototype that mimics a future where they can teleport to any location in the universe, from the ocean's depths to the farthest galaxies, overseeing their robotic creations and making remarkable things happen. This vision ties into the magical combination of robotic engineering and Holographic AR. In this camp, students will learn how to design a robotic prototype that can be teleported from home into the Holographic AR world and controlled from a distant place.

The following hardware will be provided in the camp for each student:

·         An enhanced Lego-like robotics system equipped with enhanced components and state-of-the-art programmable motor controls and wireless communication capability.

Camp Modules:

Part 1: Intro to Robotics Mechanics

Part 2: Intro to Robotics Motor Controls

Part 3: Intro to Robotics Coding

Part 4: Intro to AR Coding

Part 5: Build an integrated Robotics with AR design.

What is the magic of Intro to Robotics Design over traditional Robotics Design?

At this camp, students explore beyond the basics of robotics mechanics using Lego; they work with enhanced Lego-like robotics components and programmable motor controls with wireless communication capabilities. Rather than relying on traditional joystick controls, they learn to program their robots for more automatic and intelligent actions. This hands-on experience in robotics programming is just the beginning.

Coupled with the power of Holographic AR technology, the camp takes robotics to a next level. Students can launch and operate their robots remotely. They immerse themselves in simulated futuristic scenarios where robots perform tasks in hazardous environments while the students stay safely at home. Through Holographic AR, they can teleport into the robot world, gaining a unique perspective by remotely controlling their robots in these immersive environments.

This interactive approach transforms the learning experience, making it more vivid, engaging, and fun, while also being deeply technical. Students are not just learning about current technologies; they are stepping into a future where robotics and AR intertwine to expand the boundaries of what's possible.

Moreover, the camp fosters essential skills like problem-solving and attention to detail. As students see their programmed robots and AR creations come to life, they become more invested in understanding and refining their work. This process of observing, debugging, and improving their designs teaches persistence and adaptability, key traits for thriving in the world of technology.

Students will learn the following:

•Computer, keyboard, mouse, and Internet skills (Junior Level)

•Introductory Robotics Engineering (Junior Level)

•Introductory Robotics Coding (Junior Level)

•Introductory Holographic AR concepts (Junior Level)

•Introductory Holographic AR logic (Junior Level)

•Introductory Holographic AR coding (Junior Level)

•Debugging and Problem-solving (Junior Level)

Robotics Camp Safety Note: Mandatory Requirements for Participation

Prioritizing Health and Safety: At our Robotics camp, ensuring the safety of each student is paramount. Given the nature of the activities and the diverse needs of our participants, we have established essential safety requirements:

  • Handling Components with Care: All students are required to handle small parts with both hands, ensuring control and safety. It is mandatory to avoid putting any parts in the mouth. This is a strict requirement due to choking hazards and health concerns.
  • Mandatory Adherence to Instructions: To maintain a safe and productive learning environment, it is essential that students follow the teacher's instructions at all times. This is not just for their own safety, but also for the safety of others in the class.
  • Appropriate Behavior with Components: Students must handle all robotics components with care to prevent any damage or injury. Actions such as throwing parts are strictly prohibited and could lead to immediate removal from the camp.

Important for Parents/Guardians: Please evaluate whether your child can safely adhere to these safety requirements. This is especially crucial if your child may need additional support or accommodation. Our teachers strive to provide individual attention, but it is not possible to monitor each student every second. If you have concerns about your child's ability to adhere to these safety requirements, please contact us to discuss further.

Adherence to these rules is non-negotiable and crucial for ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all participants. We are committed to creating a stimulating, educational, and safe environment, fostering a passion for technology and innovation.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in creating a safe learning space for all.
